A friend sent me this video of a mk 2 Focus 1.6 TDCi doing a 0-200 kph run. The fact that it's a video of a boring diesel hatch is dreary enough. The thing that really got me though, is that this guy got better economy during that run than I do in my CLK when I'm just driving around town. I usually get around 12-13 l/100 km (19.6-18 US MPG, 23.5-21.7 Imp. MPG), 16 l/100 km on a very bad day (14.7 US MPG, 17.6 Imp. MPG). He got around 11 l/100 km (21.4 US MPG, 25.7 Imp. MPG) on full throttle. Bloody hell.

Erm, why is that depressing? Its a diesel FWD economy car ….. I'll take your car 10 out of 10 days.

It's depressing because this guy can hoon his car all he wants and it ends up cheaper than me just rolling around in a pedestrian pace.
